He is a born winner and has the competitive streak of a champion, that's why the very top guys hate to lose so much, just look at Hellmuth.

Classic Moneymaker luck.
He hasn't won anything in five years, and Ivey is now considered the best.
This video shows why Ivey (calm in loss) continues to dominate, while Moneymaker (huffing and puffing when he was behind, and then acting like a kid on his birthday when he catches up) continues to not win at poker.

i never understood why moneymaker got shit for this hand.. just because it's phil ivey probably.. he had trip queens of course he's going to gamble.. the hand went back and forth and ivey just happened to be on the wrong end of it.. it's poker.. ace queen is a decent hand and phil got what he wanted on the turn..

Chris DID get lucky many times, no doubt. But analyze the scenario. He was chip leader and flops trip Queens with top kicker. He bets the river, and an aggressive player (Ivey) moves
all in for an additional 220K into a 780K pot. Is there any way he can fold with his hand?

exactly what i'm sayin chris26356.. moneymaker also had a lot of outs on the river as well because he flopped trips and had a pretty good hand to start off with.. he caught a good card.. phil had the weaker full house..

I agree, Ivey was the favorite to win, Moneymaker got the luckiest card of his poker career. Without this win, he is nothing in the poker word. Look at his performances since, he's just a fluke who got the chip lead and kept it with some lucky hands.

Everyone says luck doesn't play a part in poker, which is 100% wrong. Luck plays a part in everything. The team that wins the Stanley cup or Super bowl always gets a little bit of luck. Avoiding injuries, or injuries to key players on the opposing teams, or just having an average player step up and make an amazing play at the right time.
The winner of the WSOP is always the luckiest player out of the players who played their A level game.
