He is not complaining about being penalized chips because he was late. He was complaining that a guy who was even later, entered the tourney with more chips. That's why no one has thought of that.

If you have a business meeting that can't proceed until you arrive, then you need to be early or at least on time. But, in a poker tournament if you are late, no matter who you are, the tournament can still begin. So you don't have to be on time.

everyone who sits in a tournament knows the rules (or should) and by buying in, they agree to be bound by the rules. Like it or not aniel agreed to that rule when he bought in and now he is whining.
just as evrything in life ther are loopholes. Next tournamnet use that loophole to your advantage. If everyone does it maybe the rule will then be changed.
