For all the people ... ( 4 months ago by pmanngw)
For all the people saying that this is a bad laydown, can you please give an example of any other hand Yang could have other than JJ which a) fits the betting, and b) Childs can beat.

AK or mayyybe tens, i would have definitely called there though lol, pot-value and theres a chance yang was just trying 2 make a move as he was a little short-stacked at the beginning

What I love about this thread is all the people saying 'Bad laydown', 'Awful fold', etc.. .... with the benefit of seeing the cards.
Funny thing is, before this was shown on TV and we found out Yang had JJ, most posters on the poker forums were talking about this hand saying they thought it was a good fold and that Yang must have had KK or AA.
Funny how everybody suddenly becomes a genius when they can see the cards!

no one should talk shit... at times it's just not ur night... u could call a million dollar raise with ur 8 2 if u feel it's ur night and could come out two pair of ur 8 2 off suit.
SOME NIGHT U JUST DON'T HIT SHIT AND THAT'S WHEN THE TERM PLAY THE PLAYER COMES IN!

That QQ was a shocking fold even in a final table situation. Definately let the situation get a hold over him.

nah, dude that said u failed probably never plays poker lol. I no what u mean, theres just days when u kill with anything and there days when u have the best hand but always fucking lose.
The awful part is ... ( 2 months ago by jondoe19)
The awful part is not necessarily the lay-down, it's the pre-flop call. Childs should have decided before the flop if he thought he was beat or not--otherwise, why call? What was he hoping, to catch a two-outer against a better hand? He got basically the perfect flop for QQ and yet mysteriously folded after committing so much of his stack pre-flop. It's a bad play, 100%.
I disagree with ... ( 2 months ago by pmanngw)
I disagree with that. There are lots of hands that Yang would pop it with preflop - TT, AK, AQs for example. These hands would all fold to a bet on that flop. The only hand that might, just might push that Yang would have raised prelop with is JJ, which unforunately is what Yang had.
Long term - calling in that situation with the situation he faced is going to be a negative EV play.

It's a fine line--I respect your opinion--but I don't think it's clear what the +ve EV play is here.
Btw, the old South African is hilarious when he says "bad lay-down".

so come on if u call the 2.5 mil reraise qq pre u cant fold at this board wtf??
he should have ... ( 1 month ago by aarojasf)
he should have studied the situation... raise less than 3 times the BB; Yang re raises, because he thinks Childs has high cards and he has the best hand. That's the analysis Child could have done, as you say, prior to calling, and followed it after the flop: if Yang reraises all in, he thinks I don't have a hand, it's not that he's above me with KK... But let's face it, a hard decision to make. I think Yang played it well, but he could have got busted on that.

You couldn't ask ... ( 1 month ago by iFVindicta)
You couldn't ask for a better flop with pocket Q's. what a bad lay-down. You'd have to put him on a set (then he would probably not have re-raised pre-flop) or kings or aces, which is probably, but not likely. He was just too scared to lose so early at this final table that he made the wrong decision.

Man, Lee made a ... ( 3 weeks ago by SunnySideUp360)
Man, Lee made a good decision. Even though he invested a lot in the pot and was 90% odds to win having top pair. He considers what many people don't when playing in a special tourney and being so close. That players at the Final Table have to consider the odds of Match ups like KK vs QQ or KK vs AA happening for the mere fact that during that year those players at the table with him proved to be the best of over 6000 players. Doing something only the best can do, fold amazing hands. Props 2 Lee.

True but re-rasing ... ( 6 days ago by niklas112)
True but re-rasing preflop in wsop final table could also mean AA or KK. And if he is 9:1 favourite,it would be good laydown because if he can have more than 9:1 odds for prize money more if he stays alive, he couldn't even get the odds to that call. Many people forget that difference between cash and tournaent games. Odds are in prizemoney, not in the pot as it is in cash games.
