For me, If I kept losing after 3 re-buy ins or lose everything i won, I just leave and quit poker for certain amount of time. That's a remedy I use to avoid bad streak and start fresh after certain period of time. But I play in small buy-in tables, so it's different. But for people like Gus Hansen, he plays in 10k, 100k, buy ins, so it's a different story. I'm glad Gus made up his deficit and gave shout out to people that even pros and main event champs get unlucky too.

For anyone to say "$25,000 a day here, $30,000 a day there, it kinda adds up..." he still went back for more, which 99% of people would not dare to. In his words, he was still down $100,000 from his starting point, but in his words he is back to level!!
I don't think the reason he plays online is the $80 an hour he gets. Gus is known for gambling very hard, and he will always get staked. He has had some big wins recently, but money is very much easy come easy go.
