you're both wrong, I got the movie, I've studied that chip trick and slowed down the scene frame by frame. I own a set of the exact same chips so I know the design and edge spot pattern. In one frame you can clearly see as he is about to complete the flip that three other chips can clearly be identified resting in his hand. The gap in between the front and back chip would also lead you to believe he's holding more than three chips after he's done.

he's holding 3. the trick is called the thumb roll, in which you use 3 chips, and use your thumb to roll the front one over the other too and place it at the back
