Kaplan is referring to Sheiky not joining the game earlier. If Sheiky is bankrolling Matusow, Sheiky has an interest in Matusow winning. Therefore if Sheiky were also playing at the table, there would be an incentive for him to collude and try to throw pots to Matusow. That's why it's ethical for Sheiky not to play if he has a piece of Matusow (Kaplan's speculation).
