I have been in this exact situation, for much less money of coarse, but non the less. It is a difficult situation no matter how much money is involved. Watching the video it is easy to say "lay it down". From Daniel's seat, not so easy to let it go. Bad call? maybe. But overall pot odds dictacted the call as well.

That was a horrible call. The only reason he made it is probably because of overconfidence - how can you keep having such horrible luck? Even if he didn't have quad eights, a full house was very possible.

Tough to put Lindgren on a house as he smooth called preflop, which he probably wouldnt of done with QQ,JJ or AA. The only thing that makes sense is 8888, K10, JQ or split pot. Tough laydown.

To catch one 8 on the flop, yes. But he had to catch the last 8 on the turn or river also. Tripps doesn't beat a straight, you know! It's 4 percent to catch the last eight at the turn and 2 percent on the river. Or pair the board of course...

That's what happens when u play a large range of hands like Negreanu does. Yeah, he's a great player, but one of his falts his playing alot of hands when he shouldn't. Because of that he will get into alot of situations where he may flop the nut str8 and he has really tough decisions like this if the board pairs and if someone comes over the top. This happens ALOT on high stakes poker to Daniel b/c of this. I agree with Gabe. This was one time he should of folded. He can only beat a bluff here.

yea he cuaght the 8 and it was 4% but he had more outs then the last 8 the board could of paired to give eric a full boat so he had 30 something percent to catch the winning hand...

Having QQ, JJ or AA is unlikely but when a player pushes the river like that after Daniel had bet the pot on the FLOP, TURN and RIVER, he has to lay it down, it is a bad call IMO.
The times in the past I've made similar calls when it is just so obvious you're behind on the river- people don't just make a bluff in cash games after a player has bet it the whole way on all 4 streets!

I do agree that he plays a lot of hands but there was another possibility, Lindgren could of had 5 8,6 8,7 8,10 8 and just had a set. Its possible to reraise with just the set of 8.

i like the way negreanu plays tho i think i play similar (altho far worse player lol)
like when say the pot is e.g. 50k he will be say 20-25k which is what im like whereas other players like ivey bet like 40k i just think its too much it will put people off etc...

But i still believe the only reason Negreanu called was because he was tilted. His reaction when Lindgren went all in shows it. He wouldn't have hit the table then considered a bluff; it was a bad call and he pretty much admits it when he calls and say that he doesnt know Lindgren has.

Actually they could very easily make a bluff on 5th street if they had enough chips behind them to make a big bet at the pot if they think the other player isn't pot committed or has a marginal hand.

I'm sorry I've just watched this again. Daniel has bet aggressively the whole way, for Lindgren to shove all in is a move he'd only make with the nuts, he wouldn't be bluffing a tilting Negreaanu who was lilely tilting at this point anyway and very likely to call.

OK, so what hands does Lindgren smooth call flop and turn pot bets then 3 bet shove the river?
It is a terrible call IMO, the smooth calls to the river should ring alarm bells, because we know these guys don't call like passive bitches (unless they turn quads of course!)
