well, this one is basically a parlor tricj while the one involving probability is a way to beat casinos at blackjack. it gives you a slight edge, and if done correctly, can help you earn large sums of money.

ok so this is what happens, he places the card back in the deck with his pinky holding its position, he switches to a quick one hand shuffle as he asks to pick a number, now the chosen card is at the bottom, then he takes the amount (13) -1 (12) off the top and slides the bottom card in now its gonna be number 13

yeah, you can see everything he does man, its just pretty quick.. He marks the card SPLITS the deck right away and holds it,.. then he pulls off some cards over the split and simply counts until he gets to where he marked it.. this trick is so easy,.. oh yeah no tenki(I must have been drinking)

I understand how the trick is done, but I don't get how he was able to cut the deck perfectly just by taking a request. If there is an explanation(aside from practice), please reply.
